TITLE: "The Danger of Being a Deceitful Disciple"

TEXT: Matthew 26:6-15; 20-25

"FIRESIDE CHAT" QUESTIONS

1) In order for the sermon to be impactful, both the preacher and the hearer must receive the message in humility and obedience. Why are these actions required as a means of receiving the message?

2) Judas Iscariot is depicted as the model of a deceptive disciple. Who from the Bible would you say is an example of a true disciple. Why?

3) Jesus calls some of the Jewish leaders "children of the devil". Why did He identify them in this way?

4) Judas was chosen to be a disciple of Christ. Do you think that he should have been selected? Why? Why not?

5) Is it only Judas who could be identified as a deceitful disciple? Would else could fit into that category?

6) There comes a time in every Christian's life to determine whether we are true disciples of Christ. This occurs as we are either convicted or affirmed by the Holy Spirit. How does your Christian discipleship line up with or diverge from the characteristics of a deceitful disciple?
