“Year of Respecting God and Hoping in His Mercy”
Sermon Title: “Where Are You?”
Sermon Text: Genesis 3: 1, 6-7, 9; Luke 15
“FIRESIDE CHAT” QUESTIONS”
- How did Satan’s question to Eve establish doubt on God’s character and integrity in the soul (heart) of humanity?
- Why did God, Who is sovereign and knows everything call to Adam, “Where Are You?”
- Ponder the next 3 questions God asked this couple (Gen. 3:10-13) and reflect on the devastating and eternal consequences that resulted from their disobedience.
- Why can it be said, “Where Are You?” is a question that never ceases, and is asked to every generation?
- From my perspective, this question is the predominate question of everyone’s life. Do you agree or disagree with this understanding? Why? Why not?
- Chapter 6 of Genesis (vv5-7) records, “The Lord saw that the wickedness of [humanity] was great in the earth… and it grieved His heart”. Have you ever given thought to what the human soul, or what your own soul is like from God’s perspective?
- What is your reaction to the revelation that the people God created (that we) cause grief to God’s heart?
- Does the “Parable of the Prodigal Son” relate to you? In what ways?
- How can we be near to the loving Father as the older son was but still grieve Him in our relationship toward Him?
- What does the father in this parable teach us about the feelings of our heavenly Father toward those who are still lost in sin?
