TRIUMPHANT ENTRY (PALM SUNDAY)

Leader:            “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!”  Today we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

People:           Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Leader:            Jesus humbly rode into Jerusalem on a donkey for the Feast of the Passover.  The crowd spread their cloaks on the road and others laid palms to prepare the way for His victorious coming.

People:           Rejoice! Rejoice! The King arrives!

Leader:            Five hundred years before Jesus, the prophet Zechariah told of the Messiah’s coming in humility and peace.

People:           Rejoice! Rejoice!  The triumphant King has come!

Leader:            On the journey to liberation from sin, we celebrate Christ’s victories, sorrowfully contemplate his sacrifice, and we revel in His resurrection, the ultimate victory.

People:           We remember the long road to freedom that our ancestors traveled, filled with triumphs, death, and new life.

Leader:            Ride on, King Jesus!  Ride on, Conquering King!

People:           Jesus came “to bring good news to the poor; to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; and to let the oppressed go free.”

Leader:            With excitement and joy we welcome you into our lives.  With loud Hosannas we join you on your march toward liberation, justice, and love for all people.

All:      Rejoice! Rejoice!  The triumphant King has come!

HOLY COMMUNION

Image removed.

When we approach God's Holy Table, we do so with respect and reverence for who God is. It is not done with noise, commotion, moving around, or confusion. Please respect God by respecting His Holy Table.

CONFESSION OF FAITH

The church acknowledges as its head, God, the Creator of all heaven and earth, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Holy Spirit the Comforter. It acknowledges as brothers and sisters in Christ, all who share in this confession. It believes that all of those who are committed to building of God's Kingdom and strive to keep His commandments are invited to partake of the Lord's Supper and that all such, with their families, are invited to the Ordinance of Baptism.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: “APOSTLES” CREED

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. The third day he arose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty: from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church (universal), the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sin, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE LORD’S SUPPER

I Corinthians 11: 23 – 34

Pastor:      For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you. That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

People:    And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, Take eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Pastor:      After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

People:    For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he comes.

Pastor:      Wherefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

People:    But let a person examine themselves, and so let them eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

Pastor:      For they that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to themselves, not discerning the Lord’s body.

People:    For this cause, many are weak in [Faith] and sick among you, and many sleep.

Pastor:      For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

People:    But when we judge, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Pastor:      Wherefore, my friends, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

All:        And if a person hungers, let them eat at home; that they come not together to this table, disregarding its purpose, and unto condemnation.  And the rest will I set in order when I come

God is doing a new thing and taking us to a new level. He calls us to seek Him and will do miracles in our midst. This year we are praying for miracles in our lives, the lives of our families, and our Church family. As we pray and seek His face, we are going to give God Majestic Praise along the way. The songwriters said: I seek a miracle every day and I just want to Praise Him.

Sermon Title: “The Stones Can't Have My Praise”

Scripture: Luke 19:28-40

“FIRESIDE CHAT” QUESTIONS

1.     What has Christ done for you for which You just have to give Him Praise?

2.     What is it that holds back your Praise?

3.     How do you plan to observe Holy week that captures the highs & lows of this week?

4.     If the Lord needed a donkey for his ride into Jerusalem, What does he need from you this week?

5.     It is said: "It is between the parades that we don't do so well" Why do we have a hard time with giving God praise between one Sunday and the next? We forget our Hosannas!

6.     How do you plan to make sure the stones don't steal your praise this week?

7.     What did the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday bring?

8.     Have you felt God's pleasure in your life?

9.     How are you going to make sure the Stones don't steal your Praise?

Image removed.Listening to God’s Words and messages for you.  Make a few personal notes as you listen. Revisit your notes during quiet time spent with the Lord over the coming week. Allow God to crystallize His truths in your life.
